There are no student clubs that cater to philosophy or astronomy in my uni and i find it disappointing.I guess its not cool enough. I’m hoping that there are clubs or groups of people that get together for these things in melbourne.

You coud try the Fabian Society. There are Fabian Societies around the world. They are a mainly left-leaning political think tank that get together to dicuss vaious social, political, economic and other issues of the day. They hold a monthy meeting, as well as regular forums etc. They also produce a regular journal full of essays and discussion papers written by members.
