I’m going to buy celestron portable 50 telescope but suddenly i saw this telescope. it has more magnification compared to celestron and also cheaper. would you recommend this telescope?

I got the 60x/120x scope. The eye pieces are all made of plastic, not metal like this one appears to be. I plan to get a better one soon. Also it works pretty good. I can see details on the moon. But there is still that ghost problem.

@dawilliams40 how do i fix it so that it works?please i really want to see at least the moon…

I painted the inside of my scope. Helped a bit (Jupiter is crisper now) but there still is the ghost problem. It think these have bad lenses for the eyepiece.

Update: Observed the Moon with this telescope. Very nice, an improvement over my binoculars. I could see craters with fine detail.

Opened the scope up and I noticed that the inside of the tube was bare metal. This is bad- simple solution a non reflective black paint. I think that should fix the “lens flare” type distortions.

The scope disassembles with a Phillips head ***** at each end.

I will update after I paint it and have a clear sky night. :)

I just purchased the same model for $10 on discount. Now its not bad but its clearly low end. Just looked at Jupiter and I could see its 4 large moons, but there was a lens flare like distortion (3 to 4 faint Jupiters).

You get what you pay for. This is my first telescope and I’m going to take an Astronomy elective next year, so its more for familiarization when I get a better scope.

Cracks me up all the people who say they can’t see anything. I have this scope, yes it is cheap and isn’t much account by comparison to others. However if you have some patience and some adjustments, it works for what it is. The moon is crystal clear on this. At present Jupiter is very close to the earth. I have no problem locking in on it and seeing the 4 visible moons and can even make out some of the equatorial bands. One tip is to free up the tripod head by taking it off and sanding it.

hey i have this too and i cant see anything at all

That is definitely not a telescope any knowledgeable amateur astronomer would recommend. What you need is a telescope from one of these manufacturers….. Celestron, Orion, Skywatcher, Antares, Stellarvue, Vixen, Meade. There are a few others but these will give you a start with good telescopes.
